Extremely Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Rabbit Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG PA", circa 1865, semi-ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a large cobalt figure of reclining rabbit extending across the front. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. One of a few Cowden & Wilcox rabbit decorations known. Significant restoration to surface of jug. Some restoration to surface touches feet and belly of the rabbit, not affecting the cobalt. A small iron ping to right side of jug. A minor nick to interior of rim. H 17".
