One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1865, cylindrical jar with slightly-flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed drooping flower. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent color. A small chip and minor nick to right handle. A 1 3/4" hairline from rim on reverse. Two minuscule nicks to interior of rim and some typical minor nicks and wear to inner rim where a lid would rest.
