Four-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Wreath, Dated 1868, Stamped "NEW YORK STONEWARE CO.," Fort Edward, NY origin, circa 1868, ovoid form with circular bunghole, embellished with tooled and cobalt-highlighted banding, the front decorated with a slip-trailed wreath surrounding the date "1868". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Shallow chips to interior of bung hole. Two small chips to interior of rim, one of which is glazed over. A short, glazed-over line to interior of rim. A short, minor line on underside, probably in-the-firing.
