Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "T.G. BOONE & SONS, / SANDS.ST BROOKLYN", New York City origin, circa 1840, slightly-flared crock with tooled shoulder, tall rim molding, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaf and freehand cobalt "1". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. 1 3/4" in-the-firing separation above one handle, not visible on interior. A glazed-over handle chip. A small filled and colored chip on front of rim. A 1" line to exterior of rim on front. A few small, glazed-over iron pings. A few chips to underside.
