Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Deer Decoration, Stamped "WM. A. MACQUOID & CO / NEW-YORK / LITTLE Wst 12th ST", Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed design of a deer with large rack, leaping atop a shrubbed ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Recently surfaced in the Midwestern U.S. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 3/4" in-the-firing ping emerging on the reverse.
