Glazed Redware Jar with Manganese Decoration, Norwalk, CT or Huntington, Long Island, New York origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, applied handles, and incised banding at midsection and shoulder, the surface decorated with vertical stripes of manganese and covered in a heavy lead glaze. Excellent decoration and form. Provenance: Collection in the Long Island, New York area. Typical wear to rim. Some typical light glaze wear to body. A minor in-the-firing separation line at foot. H 9 1/2".
