Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "BOYERS KNOTTS / PALATINE / WVA," circa 1875, large-sized, tapered canning jar with tooled shoulder and rounded wax sealer rim, the front featuring Boyers and Knotts advertising in arching block letters. Freehand cobalt stripes below rim and at base. Chips to interior of rim and inner wax sealer rim. Stone ping to base. Some faint, minor lines in underside, probably in-the-firing. A large spot of staining to reverse. H 10".
