Rare Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock, Stenciled "WILLIAMS & REPPERT / GREENSBORO / PA," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, featuring Williams & Reppert maker's stenciling and decorated with freehand stripes, a freehand "6" with flourishes, and cobalt at the handle terminals. A highly unusual form in this size. Y-shaped line at base on reverse, continuing a short distance onto underside. Long in-the-firing separation on interior base, visible as a long faint line on underside. Shallow chipping to edge of both handles, some of which is glazed over on one handle.
