One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard Clinton Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two large brushed tulips. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals and cobalt swags under each handle. Impressed with "R.C.R. / PHILA" maker's mark under one handle. Loss to one handle. Some overfiring to one side, including some fry to cobalt. Some faint, in-the-firing lines to underside, not visible on interior.
