Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "GILSON & Co. / Reading, Pa," circa 1840, highly-ovoid jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized brushed foliate design on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Significant thin spider cracks to body. A small rim chip. Some staining.
