Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD POTTERY CO.," New York State origin, circa 1859, large-sized cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed leaf surrounded by circular accents and dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Unglazed contact mark spot to front. Some wear to shoulder area on front. 1 1/8" worn spot near base on reverse. 2" in-the-firing flake / contact mark to reverse. Minor spout wear. Some staining.
