Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1850, ovoid pitcher with footed base and flared collar accented with tooled lines, the front decorated with a two-stemmed flowering plant design. Spout and color decorated with a series of brushed swags. Restored spout. 7 1/2" crack on right side of pitcher's front, which extends onto underside where it forms a tight four-line spider crack. The three other sections of this four-line spider crack extend in the form of faint hairlines a very short distance onto the base of the pitcher. An in-the-firing contact mark on left side of pitcher, in the form of two small chips and a small piece of adhered clay.
