Colonel Ellsworth Commemorative Ironstone Pitcher, Stamped "M A P / TRENTON, NJ," Millington, Astbury, & Poulston, Trenton, NJ, circa 1861, molded pitcher depicting the murder of Union Colonel Elmer Ellsworth, labeled "COL ELLSWORTH," and the shooting of his assassin, "J W JACKSON / THE TRAITOR" by "F E BROWNELL". Reverse impressed "UNION AND CONSTITUTION" with image of an eagle holding a snake in its beak, grasping a palmetto tree and fallen Confederate flag in its talons, beside a raised American flag with rifles. Broken and reglued, the damage primarily visible on the reverse and including a few minuscule filled spots. An additional reglued and partially filled chip on side of rim. H 7 3/4".
