Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1860, ovoid pitcher with tooled shoulder and short, flaring collar with rounded rim, the front decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant. Additional clover decoration on the sides of the pitcher's body and collar. Additional brushwork flanking the spout. Partially-restored U-shaped crack extending from underside partway up front and side of pitcher. Restoration includes touch-up to cobalt where the two clover stems cross and the leaf on the bottom right side. Contact mark to side of pitcher. Restored 2" x 1" flake on exterior of pitcher. A faint 3 1/4" hairline to right of spout.
