Six-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a finely-stenciled design resembling a snowflake. 1 1/2" rim chip above one handle, with related 1 1/2" hairline from rim. Shallow 1 1/4" rim chip on reverse. A small rim chip on interior. Tight, approximately 4 1/2" cluster of lines on reverse. Some spots of staining. A tight Y-shaped line under each handle, one measuring 2 3/4" and the other measuring 2 1/4".
