Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and ribbed handles, decorated with three brushed cobalt leaves on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and brushed cobalt dash underneath each handle. Impressed with Richard C. Remmey maker's mark under one handle. Base chip on side of crock. Rim chips. Chips to one handle. Small U-shaped line in rim. Faint 2 1/2" hairline from rim. Some fry to cobalt. 1" line in one handle.
