One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WM. A MACQUOID & CO / NEW-YORK / LITTLE W 16th ST," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a bird in a leafy branch. Inscribed "1 1/2" above. Reverse with lightly-impressed William Macquoid maker's mark. Excellent condition with some minor in-the-firing separation to end of left handle, visible on reverse, and some minor wear to interior of rim where a lid would rest.
