Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1835, ovoid jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, decorated completely around the body of the jar with a series of brushed swags and tulips. Collar decoration with an unusual sawtoothed stripe design. 1" shallow chip to handle, which appears to be in-the-firing. A 1" in-the-firing chip to top of rim. Two other small rim chips. A 1 3/8" shallow chip on underside at edge, which is glazed-over and occurred in the firing. Another minor chip on underside at edge.
