Impressive Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with footed base, flared rim, and applied tab handles, heavily-decorated with two rows of leafy vines bearing tulip blossoms extending completely around the body of the jar. Excellent form and decoration. 2" hairline at base, extending onto underside where it forms a large circle. Chips to end of one handle. Small chip to end of one handle. Stone ping to one side. Minor glazed-over chip on interior of rim. In-the-firing 4 1/2" line on interior of rim, with a faint 5/8" section of this line visible on exterior.
