Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, probably Midwestern origin, circa 1840, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a brushed leaf design above the number "2". Chip to top of rim. Hairline across underside. Flecks of in-the-firing residue to jug. 1 3/8" worn area to shoulder on front.
