Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Impressed Heart Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," MA origin, early 19th century, keg-form coole with circular bunghole and incised bands at base and shoulder, the midsection impressed "CHARLESTOWN" above three impressed hearts. Good form with desirable impressed heart motif. Surface lines to rim and shoulder, not visible on interior and presumably in-the-firing. A few additional surface lines at base, not visible on interior and presumably in-the-firing. Some small chips to interior of rim. Some staining to base on reverse. An in-the-firing chip to base of bunghole and minor nick to inner edge of bunghole. A few minor base nicks.
