Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated on the front and back with two large tulips underscored by a cobalt dash. 2" x 1 1/2" flake at base. Two additional base chips. Several chips to interior and exterior of rim. Discoloration to surface. Large vertical in-the-firing separation on interior. Long, inverted spidering crack on one side. 1 3/4" hairline from rim. Some exfoliation to underside. Additional, heavier exfoliation to interior. Some flakes to side of jar.
