Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, Georgia, third quarter 20th century, ovoid jug with applied face, the surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze. Face includes a crooked smile with rock teeth, kaolin eyes looking to the right, and pierced ears. Incised on underside "Lanier Meaders". As-made condition. Piece of tooth on far right appears to have been lost during the firing. H 10".
