Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Bowl, Edgefield, SC origin, second quarter 19th century, approximately two-gallon, tapered bowl with semi-rounded rim and applied tab handles, the surface covered in a streaky, greenish alkaline glaze. Wide crack from rim extending across underside and forming a hairline that extends several inches up reverse side of bowl. An additional top-to-bottom crack on same side of bowl as other crack begins. Two rim chips. Shallow chip to underside of bowl at edge. Nick to end of one handle. Glazed over line at one end of opposite handle. H 6 1/2" ; Diameter 13 3/4".
