Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with rounded spout, decorated with an unusual design of two tulips extending from heavily-leafed stems. Numerous tiny base nicks. Some short surface lines at base, probably in-the-firing. 1 3/4" area of wear to surface on side of jug. Some very tight lines to spout and shoulder area. Shallow chip on interior of spout. Minor flake at base of handle. A 3/4" semi-circular line to shoulder, caused by a stone or iron ping that did not fully erupt during the firing. Minor ping to shoulder.
