Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "T.F. REPPERT. / SUCCESSOR TO JAS. HAMILTON / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand cobalt stripes at the shoulder and base. Unusual cobalt "3" with flourishes at shoulder. (The vast majority of Greensboro stoneware pieces have this treatment at the base.) Desirable T.F. Reppert "SUCCESSOR TO" stenciling to body, flanked by two small stenciled tulips. 5/8" loss to end of one handle. Some old paint drips to surface. Two very faint and minor surface lines on reverse, not visible on interior and probably in-the-firing. Some staining.
