Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tall collar, footed base, and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaves on the front and back. Undersides of handles decorated with a brushed wavy line of cobalt. Numerous rim chips. Two chips to one handle. A chip and a few smaller nicks to opposite handle. Two hairlines emanating up from base. Crazing throughout surface. Two nicks to opposite handle. Iron ping to collar. Large base chip. 2 1/2" crack from rim connnecting to an approximately 6 3/4" inverted Y-shaped crack to shoulder.
