Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of fat-bodied bird perched on a leaf accented with spots. Light exfoliation around body of crock, not affecting decoration. Area of moderate exfoliation, including a surface chip, to base, visible on side of crock. Thin line of wear to front running through bird's feet and leaf decoration. Chip to one handle. Large base chip on reverse. A very tiny rim nick.
