Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with rare slip-trailed design consisting of leaves and crossed stems surmounted by a large daisy blossom. Excellent color and crisp design. Restored flaking to reverse, primarily to base area. Restored top-to-bottom crack on front to left of decoration (not touching the decoration. Scattered shallow flaking to underside. Some restoration to rim.
