One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid pail with tubular spout, metal-and-wood bail handle, and applied lug handle at base on reverse. Front decorated with brushed cobalt leaves flanking the spout and wreath-like brushwork surrounding the base of the spout. Reverse decorated with a large cobalt tulip. Includes original tin covers. Restored area to left side of floral decoration on reverse. Restored chip to handle at base, with a few additional minor unrepaired chips to underside of handle. Repair to base on front, touching left side of right leaf. Two minor chips to interior of spout.
