Very Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Jug, Dated 1854, Stamped "T.H. WILLSON & CO. / HARRISBURG, PA," cylindrical jug with heavily-rounded shoulder and rounded spout, decorated with a stylized cobalt foliate design above the brushed cobalt date "1854". T.H. Willson stoneware is considered quite rare. Dated examples are virtually non-existent. Y-shaped hairline extending across underside and approximately 1" up base of jug in three places. Additonal thin 2 3/4" crack on side of jug, continuing 1 1/2" onto underside. Small in-the-firing stone ping to top of spout.
