Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK JR., Athens, NY origin, circa 1840, approximately one-and-a-half-gallon, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaf design. Good form and color. A few small rim chips. A 2 1/2" hairline from rim above one handle. A few short, faint lines at base. A 1 1/2" base chip and a minor base nick.
