Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Midwestern origin, circa 1860-1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large brushed cobalt floral featuring a tubular center with scalloped edge. Heavy wear to cobalt. Top-to-bottom crack from rim on front. Additional shorter cracks from rim. Two cracks at base. Shallow chip to top of rim, possibly in-the-firing. Minor wear to end of one handle.
