Finely-Glazed Redware Handled Jar, Massachusetts origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and ribbed strap handle, the surface decorated with haphazard manganese slashes over a colorful orange and olive ground. Excellent form, color, and decoration. 1 1/8" filled rim chip. An additional rim chip and typical wear to rim edge. Light wear to handle. Light surface wear to midsection. 1 1/4" x 3/8" in-the-firing contact mark to side of jar. H 7 1/2".
