Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Lid and Applied Asterisk Decoration, American, early 19th century, ovoid jar with rounded foot, the rim embellished with molded and applied stars. Original domed lid with acorn-shaped finial and applied stars around edge. Surface covered in a dark brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Chips and wear to edge of lid. Chips and wear to rim of jar. 3 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim. Some minor base chips. Glaze scratches to midsection. H (including lid) 8".
