Very Rare John Bell Redware Jar with Manganese Tulip Decoration, Hand-Signed in Manganese "J. Bell," Waynesboro, PA origin, circa 1860, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and rounded rim, decorated around the shoulder with four large lead-and-manganese-glazed Bell-style tulips, along with the highly unusual brushed signature "J Bell". Examples bearing a John Bell signature in any other manner than the typical stamp are quite rare. Glazed interior. Flaking to underside and body of jar, near base. Light wear to shoulder. H 10" ; Diameter 10 1/2".
