Outstanding Large-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, Stamped Twice "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," PA origin, circa 1860, approximately six-gallon, ovoid jar with rounded rim and applied pocket handles attached at the rim, the body decorated completely around with six large cobalt tulips accented with dotted tips. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on handle and shoulder. Excellent size, form, and decoration. Restored cracks with touch-up to some of cobalt decoration. Jar is somewhat out-of-round. H 12 7/8".
