Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Sunflower Decoration, Stamped "J.W. COWDEN / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1860, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and thick spout, decorated with a heavily-brushed sunflower with spiraled interior, flanked by a wreath of tulips, buds, and leaves. Excellent condition with some small spots of fry to cobalt and staining to surface.
