Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Large Cobalt Pecking Chicken Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a chicken with heavily-shaded body, pecking at a heavily-shrubbed, circular patch of ground. Some light crazing to rim. Tight 7" crack from rim on reverse. Some minor rim nicks.
