Rare Two-Gallon Double-Stenciled Stoneware Jar with Alexandria, VA Advertising, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated on one side with stenciled flourishes and the advertising "E.J. MILLER & CO. / QUEENSWARE & C. / ALEXANDRIA, VA"; reverse decorated with freehand stripes and the maker's stenciling "JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / MANUFACTURERS / GREENSBORO, PA". 3" chip to underside of rim. Otherwise as-made condition.
