Two Stoneware Bottles, Northeastern U.S, origin, third quarter 19th century, a scarce bottle with cobalt highlights, stamped "D.W. TARR & CO. / BOTTLE NOT SOLD" and incised with the date "1853"; paired with a bottle with cobalt highlight obscuring the impressed name. Tarr bottle with hairline extending 7" up front, along with a 6" crack on back, minor base nicks, and a minor spout nick. Other bottle with heavy chipping to base, fry to cobalt, and wear to edge of shoulder. H (of Tarr bottle) 10 1/2".
