Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder, squared spout, and applied handle, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Exceptionally strong color to decoration. Staining to surface. Two small spout chips to right of handle. 1 3/8" base chip. Albany slip drip on spout. H 14".
