One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Songbird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder, squared spout, and applied handle, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed songbird perched on a branch. Provenance: Purchased at Denlinger Auctions, Bennington, VT, March 29, 1987. Excellent condition with a small base chip, a few minor base nicks, and a minor chip to right side of spout. Minor stone ping near base. H 12 1/4".
