Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Lid, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, baluster-form jar with flared base, tall collar, and ribbed handles, decorated with brushed cobalt swags around the shoulder and dashes under each handle. Impressed with R.C.R. mark at shoulder. Includes fitting unsigned Remmey lid with cobalt leaf decoration. Chips to knob and flange on underside of lid. Glazed-over chip to rim and handle. Additional chip to opposite handle. H (including lid) 10 3/4".
