Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Swan Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, unusually-squat-shaped ovoid stoneware jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed cobalt swan with heavily-shaded wing, swimming on stylized water. A desirable Cowden & Wilcox design. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example consigned from Pennsylvania. Excellent, as-made condition. H 13".
