Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Foliate Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical half-gallon jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a stenciled cobalt design of a multi-stemmed plant bearing numerous leaves. Provenance: From a thirty-five year Western PA collection. Thin cracks emanating onto base from an in-the-firing separation on underside, the longest extending up reverse 3". A few small chips on interior of rim. H 7 3/4".
