One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with sloped shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a cluster of grapes hanging from a a leafy branch. Desirable small size. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Small stone ping to shoulder on front. 1 3/4" hairline from rim on reverse. Small rim chip. Minor wear to end of one handle. Stone ping and 1 1/4" separation at base on side of jar. Small stone ping on reverse. Faint 1 1/2" line in shoulder on reverse, which does not extend through to interior. H 9 1/2".
