Stoneware Butter Crock with Lid, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, low-walled cylindrical crock with heavily-banded shoulder and ribbed handles, decorated front and back with two large cobalt tulips. Lid decorated with swags along the edge is attributed to Remmey, but probably not original to the crock. Chips to interior of crock. Horizontal hairline in each handle. Minor nicks to knob of lid. Chips to flange on underside of lid. H (of crock excluding lid) 4 7/8" ; D (of lid) 8 1/2".
