Very Fine Westerwald Stoneware "GR" Jug with Incised Decoration, German origin, circa 1740, bulbous jug with tooled foot and heavily-tooled collar, decorated with an applied Georgius Rex medallion with raised sun ray or flower petal border. Applied medallion flanked by an incised wreath. Sides of jug decorated with incised wavy lines and additional incised foliate design. Decoration highlighted in cobalt slip. Collar highlighted in manganese slip. Brushed cobalt "8" on reverse. As-made condition with a tiny glazed-over base nick. H 4 3/4".
