Very Fine Westerwald Stoneware Tankard with Horse Decoration, German origin, circa 1720, cylindrical mug with molded diamond pattern at shoulder and base. Midsection decorated with three applied and cobalt-highlighted medallions featuring rearing horses. Midsection further highlighted in purplish manganese slip. Banding at shoulder and base highlighted in cobalt slip. Hairlines in underside. Two hairlines from rim, measuring 2 1/4" 1 3/8". H 7".
